I look like my mom. And the older I get, the happier that makes me. I wouldn’t be the goofy, fun-loving music nerd I am if it weren’t for her. When I was little, she’d let me stay up late to watch Monty Python, Saturday Night Live and listen to music. She’d let me flip through her albums and pick out the music we would listen too. And she took me to buy my first non-Disney grown-up record (Blondie’s Eat to the Beat).

And so , every Mother’s Day, I think how great it’d be to take her to a nice, fancy Mother’s Day Brunch. But that’s not at all her thing. She’d much rather prefer to go and hang out with all the cute baby animals at The Bear’s Den instead. And since it’s her day, I never argue.

What is WMSE Community Power, you ask? Well, if you were at our 8th Annual Rockabilly Chili Contest on March 7th, you were a part of it. You felt it. You made it happen. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This WMSE Community Power blog will be written mainly by me, Dori Zori, WMSE’s Underwriting Director. I’ve been crazy about all things 91.7fm since I got my first chance at doing a show here in 1990. I was hooked. And now as one of four full-time staffers, I get to work closely with the businesses that support WMSE. We call our Underwriters “partners” and “friends” because that is how we feel.

I hope to fill this blog with information from our partners that you, the reader, find useful. Things we can’t talk about on the radio, like specials, coupons and discounts. But also, I will share with you some of the things I am learning about these Underwriting friends  that make them unique to our city.
